BAAQMD presents draft—and still deficient—refinery rules, Sept 21

wildfires.jpgThe agency whose mission is to protect public health and global climate will present its latest drafts of refinery rules 12-15 and 12-16. And once again, the staff’s proposals ignore calls from the public, and their own board members, to adopt a measure that can prevent refineries from processing more highly polluting crude oils in coming years: enforceable numeric cap on overall GHGs, per each refinery.

That’s just not acceptable. Attend the Stationary Source Committee meeting and tell board members that the agency’s failure to use “all the tools in its toolbox”—a promise it made just last month—is a dereliction of its mission.
