Help stop crude-by-rail in Benicia: Thursday, August 14

Crude-by-rail logoThe Valero proposal, if approved, would pose a grave and constant threat to the health of Benicia residents and the entire Bay Area. We must stop that! Come to the Planning Commission because your presence will make a difference. The Valero project would transport up to 70,000 barrels per day of crude, install a spur track, a tanker unloading rack, pumps, pipelines and more.

Gather at 5:30 PM outside City Hall. Benicians for a Safe and Healthy Community and advocates from all over Northern California will meet and show support for keeping our cities family-friendly, safe and healthy places to live, work and play.

Please wear a white shirt or blouse, to express solidarity with our cause.

After the gathering we will move indoors to attend the Planning Commission meeting.  Benicians For A Safe and Healthy Community will formally present it's opposing view, and everyone will get to ask questions and comment.  Numbers speak, and many of us will let our voices be heard, so please plan to attend.

We will encourage the Commission to take a critical view of the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR).  Some in Davis and Sacramento have called for a major revision and recirculation of the document.
