Cal EPA Northern California Safety Refinery Forum

Chevron worker during fire, animation imageThis is the only safety forum in Northern California this year. The location may have been chosen because it is the half-way point between Richmond and the Martinez/Benicia areas.  Topics include crude-by-rail and other forms of transport, and community warning systems. A strong turn-out will help leverage our concerns at the state level.

As many of you know, these safety forums are Jerry Brown's response to the Chevron Richmond fire in 2012.  The first forum was held in Richmond last year, but when EPA realized it barely scratched the surface, it promised to return. They are doing two forums this year: one in So Cal and one in Northern Cal.

This  intra-agency task force (10 state agencies, Federal EPA and assorted county agencies) will be looking at crude-by-rail issues and community warning systems.
