Climate action fundraising dinner, Tim DeChristopher, Jan 23

Tim DeChristopherWhile offering nourishment at the physical level, this dinner program will nourish action on levels both moral and physical. The keynote speaker is Tim DeChristopher, founder of the Climate Disobedience Center. Mr. DeChistopher won national recognition for outbidding oil and gas companies for drilling rights on public lands in Utah. (More about Mr. DeChristopher’s act of civil obedience and subsequent trial.)

Janet Weil of CodePink will be Mistress of Ceremonies. Joining her and DeChristopher will be civil rights attorney Shahid Buttar. Mr. Buttar is Executive Director of the Bill of Rights Defense Committee.

Awards will be given to 3 local activists:
 • Pennie Opal Plant, Idle No More
 • Rev. Deborah Lee, Project Director, Interfaith Coalition for Immigration Rights
 • Peter Cohen, Co-Director of SF Council of Community Housing Organizations

No-host bar, poetry and music.

Donation of $20. No one turned away for lack of funds. Wheelchair accessible.
