Sunflower Alliance member Jean Tepperman has written an excellent summary of progress on the Bay Area Air Quality District’s Climate Protection Plan, published last week in the East Bay Express. We learn that BAAQMD has done more to regulate greenhouse gases than other agencies around the country—but truth be told, that ain’t much. Ambitious plans for progress do not equate to progress. An enormous amount of work remains to be done to meet the goal of an 80% reduction of GHGs compared to 1990 levels.
The current trajectory falls well short of that mark. Yet the first step in hitting a target is to turn our full attention to it. Stay tuned.
