Join us in saying "NO to coal in Oakland" this Thursday

coal-rail-car.jpgThe development director of the former Oakland Army base, Phil Tagami, may soon turn the port into a massive coal export terminal. Join us at Frank Ogawa Plaza to demand that Tagami keep his promise and say NO to coal in Oakland!

In 2013 Tagami, developer of the Global Logistics Center, said that he has "no interest or involvement in the pursuit of coal-related operations” at the Port of Oakland. But now 4 Utah counties have proposed to invest $53 million in public funds to create a coal export operation there. If allowed to move forward, millions of tons of dirty, toxic, climate-killing coal would roll through West Oakland on mile long trains, creating toxic pollution in a community already overburdened by heavy industry.

This action is being organized by Diablo Rising Tide (DiRT) incollaboration with many allies.
