Public comment opens on Monday, November 17th, on the recirculated Draft EIR for the Phillips 66 Propane Recovery Project. The EIR identifies this as a tar sands project. According to the CBE’s Greg Karras, it ignores safety and emissions impacts on Rodeo, and admits significant air and water pollution up and down the rail lines.
Add your voice to the opposition by attending either the public hearing on Monday, Nov. 17 (time and place below), or a much larger hearing before the Board of Supervisors, at a time yet to be announced. The hearing on Monday, Nov. 17, will be before a single administrator who will not make comments or render any opinions.
You can familiarize yourself with the project, and find links to the Rodeo DEIR (the project has two components, the other in Nipomo), at http://crgna.org/blog/ This website provides links to a wealth of information about the project, including BAAQMD’s response to the original EIR, articles on tar sands, and many supporting documents.
