The Richmond Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the Chevron Refinery Project EIR. This is our opportunity to restate how important safety and emissions controls are to us and to express support for the alternative endorsed by the Attorney General Office, 6.5.11. This alternative calls for more robust emission mitigation and other measures to improve safety.
Jeff Kilbreth of the Richmond Progressive Alliance has prepared an analysis of the EIR. Whether or not you attend the Planning Commission meeting, this concise 3-page summary is worth a look.
A rally before the Planning Commission meeting will take place at 5:30, outside of the cafeteria (see below). The rally has been called by Asian Pacific Environmental Network (APEN). Facebook page for the rally.
Note the new location for the meeting: the Kennedy High School cafeteria. Enter the cafeteria from Cutting Blvd, from the Berk Avenue parking lot driveway at the northwest corner of the campus.
