The San Luis Obispo Planning Commission will be holding its third day of public hearings on the Phillips 66 crude-by-rail proposal on Thursday, February 25th. Those who have not yet had an opportunity to testify will have a last chance to do so. There has already been a tremendous outpouring of mostly negative comment about the Rail Spur Project during the previous two days of testimony. Coverage of the Feb 4th and 5th hearings, "Broad Coalition in San Luis Obispo Blasts Tar Sands Invasion," can be found here.
This also means that there's still a little time left to weigh in via email to the Department of Planning and Building San Luis Obispo County and Board of Supervisors San Luis Obispo County: firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com.
After public comment is finally complete, the Planning Commission might ask further questions of applicant and staff, continue the hearing to another meeting date, or make a decision on the project. Current speculation has March 11 as a more likely date for the vote.
Speaker sign-ups begin at 8am. If you're interested in attending, contact Ethan Buckner of Forest Ethics.
