Last year the Bay Area Air Quality Management District agreed to develop rules that will reduce refinery air pollution, including greenhouse gases, by 20% by 2020. Now its staff proposes rules that could increase this pollution!
Join us to demand that our the BAAQMD’s elected board:
- Reject its staff’s ‘crude throughput’ exemption that allows refinery emissions to increase when more oil is refined.
- Reject its staff’s ‘greenhouse gas’ exemption. allowing unlimited increases in refinery emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs).
- Enact a moratorium on air permits for oil projects until it fixes its broken air rules.
Citizens for a Better Environment (CBE) developed talking points you may want to use to help shape your own statement. Download the talking points.
