WesPac crude-by-rail project on hold. Yay, Pittsburg!

pittsburg-march.jpgThe Contra Costa Times reported that WesPac's plan for a massive oil storage and transfer facility is off the table for now. The earliest the City Council may consider a revised project is September. Additional studies could take anywhere from six to 10 months.

A letter from state Attorney General Kamala Harris urging further scrutiny on air quality and the risk of accidental spills, as well as fierce community opposition must have strongly influenced this decision.  Yay, Pittsburg!
