WesPac is dead! Come celebrate, Dec 14

march-in-pitts-400.jpgWesPac is gone! The massive crude oil storage and transport project threatened the health and safety of Pittsburg residents for nearly 4 years. No more.

Chalk up the death of the project to a combination of factors: continuing low oil prices that made the project unprofitable,   the challenges of Attorney General Kamala Harris, who questioned its widespread environmental impacts, and the ceaseless resistance of a well-organized community.

Our heartfelt congratulations to the Pittsburg Defense Council, the Pittsburg Ethics Council, and to each and every one of the committed activists in Pittsburg and throughout the Bay Area who worked tirelessly and against great odds to defeat the Oil Goliath. May this be an important step towards the greening of Contra Costa County and an encouraging model for all communities across the U.S. threatened by Big Oil and Big Rail. ¡Si se puede!

Join the victory celebration!

Come out to the city council meeting and extend your well-wishes to the scrappy Pittsburg residents and organizers who just wouldn't give up. Details below.
